How we clean the house around our busy schedule

Cleaning! Not many of us enjoy this task. But we do enjoy a clean home. So how do we get motivated to get what we want by doing something we don't particularly like?

Plan, then do.

Schedule a day of the week and have everybody pitch in. Put it on the calendar and make it a date. Have everybody's chores ready and get them involved. We set our clean up days for Friday. This is called Preparation Day. It is perfect because it is the day before the Sabbath. Before the sunsets on Friday, everybody needs to have completed all their chores. It is also perfect because we have had 6 days to get all of our work done and now we can clean up and enjoy our day of rest. Sunday starts the first day of the week, so it will be back to square one before you know it.

As I mentioned earlier, have all the assignments for each person ahead of time, so there is no disagreement. This is really a timesaver as well. We have our assignments set up this way: Everyone is responsible for cleaning his or her own room. I clean the bathrooms and kitchen. My son helps me with dusting and sweeping the floors. My husband mops and vacuums the floors and washes and vacuums the car.

Set up a plan that works for your family. You can even make it into a game. Start a contest; the cleanest room contest, the fastest worker contest, etc and give the winner a special reward.
I also like to put on some good music. This really helps me get motivated.

Well, whatever you decided to do, just get up and do it. You'll be happy you did! Feel free to post a comment. Share your ideas or add your questions.
